WINDSOR-SEVERANCE LIBRARY ADDITION BUILT
BY HEATH CONSTRUCTION RECEIVES STATE AWARD
Fort Collins, Colo., October 21, 2009 – Heath Construction built the $1.3 million addition to the Windsor-Severance Library District's main facility that recently won a Silver Hard Hat Award from Colorado Construction magazine.
Thorp Associates, architect for the 11,000-square-foot addition, submitted the entry and received the silver award for Outstanding Government/Public Projects.
Heath, which has a long history of high-profile municipal work, completed the addition to the 15-year-old library on schedule in March, despite significant challenges posed by a tight building site and harsh weather.
The new addition has substantially enlarged and updated the library, and improved versatility and convenience. The new space houses additional materials and provides separate areas for children and teens. A double-sided fireplace makes the library more inviting for community members, while a drive-up window and after-hours pick-up box improves service.
“The design for this project was inspired,” said Heath President Randy DeMario. “We’re thrilled it received the recognition it deserves. Heath is proud to have played a key role in a project that contributes so much to this community.”
Colorado Construction magazine presents Hard Hat Awards to top projects completed by firms in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. Industry experts judge projects on craftsmanship, the project’s contribution to the community and industry, construction challenges and overall excellence.
Heath has built award-winning projects throughout the region for more than three decades. In addition to the Windsor-Severance Library, Heath simultaneously constructed two library projects in Fort Collins and Cheyenne, Wyo.
