New display windows, classic style

September 22, 2011

New sills, jams, display windows and knee wall will be historically accurate -- and meet modern-day standards for energy efficiency.

Behind the protective enclosure in front of the Colorado Olive Oil Company, carpenters are rebuilding the sill and jamb for the large display windows to come.  The materials are new, and the windows and knee wall will be far more energy efficient than the originals were in 1887.  But the design is authentic –- just as Montezuma Fuller envisioned the storefront more than a century ago.
